Thursday November 1 Doug DeNeve Giant Panda Topic of Sierra Club Meeting

On Thursday, November 1, Doug DeNeve will present a program on giant pandas, their status and conservation, and the programs underway in China to save the species from extinction. Doug and his wife Pam migrated south from Winston-Salem in 2005, landing in Hartsville. Both are avid birders and lovers of the natural world, and Doug is a "serious amateur" photographer. They joined the Sierra ClubPee Dee Group about a year ago, and have been active members since. While perusing a Sierra magazine earlier this year, Pam spotted a volunteer opportunity at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, in Wolong, China. When she saw the opportunity included getting into an enclosure with baby pandas, all other vacation plans were immediately shelved! Those who attend can expect to see lots of great pictures!
